When penguins stopped play

This is a fantastically enjoyable story about a group of misfit, wannabe cricketers who decide to try and play cricket on every continent.

Sometimes funny, sometimes sad. Part cricket book, part travelogue. Has anyone else read it?

One of the best books I've read this year.

My favourite part was the account of the cricket match on Antarctica - only a New Zealander (or an Aussie) would have a cricket ball with them!

Harry Thompson was a very funny and talented man - his desire to play cricket and his inability to play cricket are the cornerstones of this book. He was responsible for several of the (IMHO) funniest shows on tv - namely, "Have I got news for you" and "Never mind the buzzcocks"
